Cera4 is the sonification of a spherical sculpture. The sonification is based on an irregular, spherical triangulation of metal struts with a diameter of two meters. The surface is made up of 60 nodes forming 112 polygons. The nodal points were measured and converted into a three-dimensional coordinate system. This resulted in the virtual model of an acustic hollow sphere. The sound was created and recorded with different mallets at exactly 60 different nodes on the sphere‘s surface. These recordings then formed the basis for a sound composition. The design of various sonification methods not only made it possible to manipulate the sounds through positioning, but also to let the space of the spherical sculpture itself compose through specific algorithmic concepts.
